Ankola/Bengaluru/New Delhi: To "punish" the Congress for its "culture of abuse," Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged voters in Karnataka on Wednesday to chant "Jai Bajrangbali" as the BJP ramped up its attacks on the opposition party over its commitment to outlaw the Bajrang Dal in its election platform.
The Congress has defended its stance against the right-wing Hindu organisation by saying the Supreme Court has also urged for action against "those spreading hatred" and that the Congress is dedicated to curbing such persons and organisations.
However, senior Congress leader and former Karnataka chief minister Veerappa Moily said there was no suggestion before the party to ban Bajrang Dal if elected to power and the Congress had mentioned action against such organisations in its manifesto in the context of the apex court's observations, which have prompted protests from saffron outfits.—Inputs from Agencies
